SAN sheet (Styrene Acrylic Nitrile)

SAN sheet:

SAN (Styrene Acrylic Nitrile) plastic is clear and has a density of just 1,08 - roughly10% less weight compared to PET-G, PMMA or PC and is relatively stiff compared to other sheet. This makes it a great product for glazing of garage and indusrial doors. SAN is certified according REACH and RoHS. Made in the E.U..

SAN sheet are made of a combination of polystyrene (PS) and acrylic (PMMA) SAN sheet are transparent and is a thermoplastic, stiff and more lightweith compared to PMMA-XT , PET-G, or PC - roughly 10% less weight. .
SAN sheet have a high chemical resistance., can easily be processed (not hygroscopic, as SAN does not absorb moisture - no need to pre-dry) and has a notched impact.  notched. Can be supplied in sheet up to 5mm thickness. Typical applications for SAN sheet are: glazing, sign & display, screen printing, shopfitting etc.. In some cases a coating is applied to avoid scratches.
SAN sheet is a clear polystyrene variant with acrylate properties. It is therefore easy to deform and a good alternative to the more expensive acrylic.

 SAN sheet:

Thicknesses: 1 mm to 5 mm

Colors: transparent, white, black and opale

Structures: Q Back and Impala, both transparent

Density: 1,08

Use: in and outdoor

Can be used with foodstuff if non-UV

Good chemical resistance

100% recycable

SAN sheet - a belgian invention

SAN is a Belgian invention (by Barlo in Belgium) from the 1980's. At that time there was a lack of MMA and as a result a lack of PMMA-XT sheet. The small quantity MMA was mixed with the raw material used to produce polystyrene. This combination led to SAN and has caracteristics of both.
