Plastics approved for the food industry

JAG Plastix has a range of plastics that are approved for the food industry: from Polyethylene (PE) to Polycarbonate-FA (PC-FA). As independent supplier we provide to our partners Food Safe semi finished products. 

In our range you'll find a range of plastics suitable for food contact, including plastics that are resistant to high temperatures. Of course these plastics comply with the latest EU-regulations.

We guarantee that our plastic products, wich are meant for the food industry, comply with 1935/2004/EG. For this reason there is no negative influence on:

• The health of the consumer.
• The ingredients, the taste, the appearence and smell of the food.

JAG Plastix co-operates only with those companies who can certify their products according to the EU and FDA regulations. Of course we send you these certifications on demand.  

Below you will find our range of the food approved products, in sheet and/or rods that are suitable to use in the food industry. Every plastic has its own characteristics that you find specified per product. JAG Plastix can supply these products as sheet / rod, or as a finished product.

This kind of polyethylene (PE-1000) is a technical plastic and have a higher density and is resistant to a higher impact, a higher stiffness and hardness compared to PE-300 and PE-500. This type has a higher impact resistance at lower temperatures. PE-1000 is moisture-repellent, easy to process, but difficult to glue and impossible to weld. 

this anti static type of PE-1000 is often used in the pharmaceutical, medical and chemical industry, as well as in the machine construction and is suitable for the food industry as well. At these places where there is a danger for electrostatic charge, the use of this material is a must.

Just like PE-1000 it is a technical plastic. 

PE-500 is used for applications like cutting boards, chopping blocks and/or rolling pins for the food industry. there are specific colours used within the industry for product categories.

POM-C (Polyacetale) has a high tensile strength, stiffness, hardness and wear resistance (although lower compared to Nylon). This in combination with good sliding properties and a low moisture absorption.
The material POM-C is known for its low expansion coefficient and a good dimensional stability. POM-C is easy to machine, for this reason it is very popular in the plastic processing industry.

The standard POM-C (Copolymeer) type is used for gears and for parts in the fine mechanical industry. 

The material is not UV resistant, this can cause discoloration and brittleness.

PEEK-S and PEEK-FDA are standard types with the highest toughness and impact resistance of all PEEK types available. These types of PEEK are often used in the medical, pharmaceutical and food industry.

PTFE (Polytetrafluorethyleen) - also known as Teflon - is a a fluorine plastic and distinguish itself because of its low coefficent of friction and the highest chemical resistance. The fluorine atoms guarantee a extreme resistance, both chemical as thermic: -200 °C to +260 °C).

The intrinsic material purity makes it suitable for direct contact with food and drinkwater.

No water absorption, water-repellent, operational thermic use from - 200 °C tot +260 °C

Excellent chemical resistance.

Good electric and dielectric properties. 

Resistant to steam, food proof (specific types).

Self-extinguising according to UL 94-VO

Physiological safe.

Polystyreen foil: on a roll

This foil is available in transparent, or any colour you wish. This foiul is available is suitqble for food applications if it is made of virgin material. The PS foil is a European product and complies US and EU regulations regarding food contact.
