The ABS/PC blend is a versatile material known for its excellent mechanical properties and excellent color yield. It is widely used in the production of electronic housing due to its high stiffness and hardness. The blend is also known for its UV stability and resistance to hydrolysis, making it suitable for applications in electronics housing in warm and humid environments.

PC-ABS is a blend or 'alloy' made of Polycarbonate (PC) and ABS (acrylonitril butadieen styreen).

In contrast of co-polymers - where there are several monomers in the same chain of polymers - this blend of PC-ABS exists of two individual polymers often called a blend or 'alloy'.

PC/ABS is a modern solution for demanding thermoforming applications.

This blend of PC-ABS has been developped to combine the characteristics of PC and ABS.

PC/ABS is a modern solution for demanding thermoforming applications. PC/ABS offers good impact strength and a wide working temperature range with better fire performance than just ABS. The polycarbonate takes care of the mechanical properties, like the high heat resistance (> 100°C). The ABS part takes care for good processing characteristics like thermoforming.

JAG Plastix offers two different PC/ABS blends in the core layer,

50/50 and

70/30 of PC/ABS – ATECH® 5100 with or without UV stability.

Matt ABS surface can be chosen on one or both sides. Different colours and different surface structures can be chosen.

The polycarbonate takes care of the mechanical properties, like the high heat resistance (> 100°C). The ABS part takes care for good processing characteristics like thermoforming.

PC/ABS: 1 + 1 is more than two !

PC-ABS is one of the only blends that - apart from the combination of the characteristics of polycarbonate and ABS - offers an extra synergetic advantage. The impact resistance of PC-ABS can not reached by far by one of the basic polymers.

This is the reason why PC/ABS ATECH 5103:.02-R118-7-8 complies with fire and safety regulations for busses, as well as REACH and RoHS. European product with 10 year guarantee..

Density: 1,15 - this can be somewhat different depending on the ratio of PC and ABS.

Thickness foil: 0,3 mm - 3,5 mm

Foil:widths: 300 mm - 1200 mm

Thicikness sheet: 0,3 mm tot en met 12 mm

Sheet widths 300 - 1950 mm

PC/ABS: The possibilities

JAG Plastix offers two blends o PC/ABS in the core layer: 50/50 and 70/30 of PC/ABS: depending on the application there is more PC for extra impact resistance. There is a choice to get PC/ABS with or without UV stability. PC/ABS can be chosen in different colours and with different surface structures / embossings.

PC/ABS ATECH 5100: PC/ABS with a matt ABS surface layer on one, or both sides.

PC/ABS ATECH 5103:.02-R118-7-8: PC/ABS-based product that meets Annex 6, 7 & 8 of the ECE R118.03 regulation, ensuring compliance with fire safety requirements for bus interiors.
